General description of machining
Non-reinforced thermoplastics can be processed with high-speed boring tools. The hardened materials are processed using hard alloy tools. In any case, sharp tools with no problems should be used. Plastics have low thermal conductivity and therefore must have good heat dissipation. The best way to cool it is to use plastic chips to dissipate heat.
The stress-free annealing of semi-finished products is a prerequisite for ensuring accurate dimensions. Otherwise, the heat generated by the machining will inevitably lead to the release of the processing stress, which will lead to the deformation of the product. If the machining volume is large, an initial annealing should be performed after the main machining is completed so that the thermal stress already generated can be eliminated. . For materials with high water absorption, such as polyamide, it is necessary to check the moisture content before processing. Plastics have larger processing errors than metals, but in addition to this, the coefficient of thermal expansion is also much greater.

If the surface quality requirements are particularly high, the tool should be made in the shape of a wide head and fine turning tool. The cutter cart used to cut off should be made into a proper shape to avoid bulging caused by excess material. For machining thin and flexible workpieces, it is best to use a turning tool that is shaped like a knife.
If it is a machining plane, the end face is more economical than circumferential milling. The use of circumferential milling and forming milling cutters determines the cutting quality and surface quality.
Twist drills can be used under normal circumstances. The twist angle should be between 12-16°C. The drill should have a good slot for chip removal. Large apertures should be pre-drilled first, and hollow drills should be used. Holes can also be drilled for solid materials. The drill bit must be sharpened, otherwise the pressure will continue to build up until the material is broken. Compared with plastics that have not been tempered, tempered plastics have lower impact toughness than toughened plastics, but the processing residual stress is relatively high, so it is easy to break. This type of drilling should be done as much as possible. Previously heated to approximately 120°C (heating time: approximately 1 hour per 10mm cross section). Polyamide 66 and polyester are also recommended for this method.
Sawmilling is usually used to saw thicker workpieces with thinner tools. Therefore, unnecessary heat generation due to friction should be avoided. It is best to use a saw blade with good sawing and wide sawing.
The thread is preferably machined with a thread cutter. With a double-toothed knife it is possible to avoid flashing. It is recommended not to use a die, as there may be a knife when returning a knife. Silk extrusion usually has some allowance (depending on material and diameter, reference value: 0.1mm)
